2 'Outstanding' Ofsted reports

Howe Dell Primary School is a busy and friendly school. There's always lots going on and the school believes that every child matters, every day. The school priority is for pupils to love learning through a broad and balanced curriculum which is exciting and constantly developing. The school are incredibly proud of receiving 2 'Outstanding' Ofsted reports in 2017, one for Day Care and the second for the School. This is due to the exceptional provision offered to develop every child within and beyond lessons and to create life long learners. The school always puts the needs of the children first.

Ethos and values

Howe Dell's ethos and values are at the core of everything they do. These values underpin the teaching and learning and provide an environment which prepares the pupils to be confident and happy. The school includes children actively in wide range of weekly themes for assemblies to promote the school values. This is reinforced with linked Music of the Week and a moment of reflection. This shows the values Britishness but also how equality and respect has been fought for through international role models.

Curriculum

Howe Dell Primary School has a full and varied curriculum. Years 1 - 6 curriculum can be viewed in full on the Howe Dell website.

Pupil Enrichment Opportunities

Pupil Enrichment has continually developed at Howe Dell to provide extensive opportunities for acquiring new responsibilities and enhancing pupil commitment to supporting projects to help others and their wider communities. Pupil enrichment includes many chances to enrich and extend learning and gaining new skills, beyond the curriculum. Play Activity Leaders (P.A.L.S.) and gaining 'Reach for the Stars' points for volunteering are just 2 examples.

Young Cultural Ambassadors

The Young Cultural Ambassadors programme aims to increase opportunities for children to participate in the arts and culture, develop leadership skills, and create new connections between primary and secondary schools and cultural organisations. It supports children to champion and enhance their local cultural offer and increase engagement in cultural activity amongst their peers.
