Watford Grammar School for Boys became an Academy in 2010. The school has now over 1200 students and draws on a wide catchment area, with its community containing a rich variety of cultures. Watford Grammar School are an all ability school and takes pride in the high standards achieved by students in academic study, music, games, drama and a multitude of other activities. The school is committed in continuing to develop generations of young men who, when they leave school are fully rounded individuals with a host of skills and experiences. This will equip them for the many opportunities and challenges that life will pose to them.

Sports

Watford Grammar School has competitive sports standards that place it among the best schools in the country. The aim is to offer all students the opportunity to discover their sporting talent and to enjoy sport no matter what their ability. The school wants students to appreciate the importance of fitness and to find something which gives them a real sense of achievement. The school has games afternoons for each school year. Major sports of rugby, hockey and cricket are taught in games afternoons, as well as basketball, fitness, badminton, sailing, football, softball and tennis. The school has exceptional facilities.

Clubs and Societies

Watford Grammar School prides itself not only on being a centre for academic excellence but also for having a vibrant and diverse range of clubs and societies. Pupils can engage in these, giving them the opportunity to discover new passions or pursue their own intellectual interests.

Adventure and Challenge

Watford Grammar School continues to develop fully rounded young men by providing them with the very best facilities and opportunities. On offer are a wide range of activities and societies in which students are actively encouraged to participate. Some societies and activities are held jointly with Watford Grammar School for Girls and many are organised by the pupils themselves.

Music

Music is a real passion and strength at Watford Grammar School. The music department is situated in the Clarendon Muse, the specialist and award-winning music centre. This consists of several classrooms, 24 sound-proofed practice rooms, a music technology suite and recording studio and a 200 seat auditorium. A wide range of instrumental lessons are available as well as an annual programme of performances by the school's 15 musical groups and choirs. 

Theatre

Productions take place in the James Theatre. The school puts on major productions every year, with other studio events directed by students. Technical expertise is provided by both students and staff.
