The Watford Colosseum holds nearly 1400 people in its venue in the heart of Watford. It hosts some of the best live music and entertainment outside London. Built in 1938, the Colosseum is Watford's premier concert venue. Julian Lloyd Webber described Watford Colosseum as “The finest recording venue in the world”. It has been used to record the soundtracks of The Lord of the Rings, The Sound of Music and Star Wars. In 1995, Pavarotti came to Watford Colosseum to record Verdi’s Inno delle Nazioni with the Philharmonia Chorus. 

The Stage 

The stage at Watford Colosseum has seen music performances from Elton John, The Faces, Genesis, Marc Bolan, ELO, One Direction, Robbie Williams, Jools Holland, Melanie C and Oasis to name a few. There are countless comedians, talk shows, dancers and entertainers that have graced the stage at the Watford Colosseum.

Blue Plaque  

In July 2017, The Watford Colosseum received a Blue Plaque as part of BBC Music Day celebrations. This was in recognition to the historic music venue’s outstanding acoustics and ongoing contribution to the country's musical heritage.
