Eye Examinations

Regular eye examinations are an important part of your healthcare. It is suggested that you have them checked every 2 years, unless otherwise advised, and it is recommended for children to have an examination once a year. Eye tests not only check your level of sight but are important to identify any conditions at an early stage.

Contact and Scleral Lens Dispensing

The use of scleral or contact lenses may be recommended after an eye examination. There are a range of contact lenses available: Rigid Gas Permeable Corneal Lenses (RGPC), hydrogel (soft) lenses, bifocal or lenses for astigmatism. If you need contact lenses then the correct option for you will be explained. If the results from the examination are more complicated, it may be necessary to discuss making you scleral lenses. Scleral lenses are uniquely and made to fit the shape of your eye and have benefited a huge number of people in the past 30 years.

Spectacle Dispensing

Another regular option after the sight test is the prescription glasses. These may be needed for a variety of reasons such as long or short distance correction, reading or to alternate with your contact lenses. The frames are always individually fitted to ensure they are comfortable and worn correctly.

Dedicated Children's Clinic

Hertford Optometry and Contact Lense Practice try to help provide the best level of eye sight they can to each individual child. With a special interest in young children's eye and vision problems, Shima is happy to organise dedicated children's clinic days at the practice.
